New Immunization Guidelines
The Arizona Department of Health Services has given us the new guidelines for next year. There are going to be several immunizations added to the list. Like the varicella (chickenpox) shot, they are going to roll it out over a series of years adding a few grades each year.
- Varicella—pre-K, K and grades 1,2,3,4,7,8,9 and 10 are required to be immunized against varicella (chicken pox) or have a history of the disease.
- New Meningococcal Vaccine—required for students in 6th grade that are 11 years old - a new grade will be added each year up through 12th grade— if you received the shot between age 2-11 that is still acceptable
- New Tdap - Required for 6th grade students who are 11 years old and have had 5 years since the last DTaP/DTP/Td dose - All students over 11 are required to have one dose of Tdap if 10 years have passed since their last DTaP/DTP/Td.
Over the summer please check with your doctor to see if you are needing any of these immunizations and then please make sure that we have the most recent copy in the nurse’s office. You can have your doctor’s office fax it directly to us at 480-355-3052 .
Thank you for your assistance as we strive to stay compliant with the Department of Health.
The nurse’s office will be closed for the summer and all medications must go home by the last day of school 5/23. Parents, if you have dropped off inhalers, epi-pens, cough drops, etc… please come and collect those medicines in person. We will not be able to release medications to the students. Any medications that are left in the office after the last day of school will be destroyed. We are unable to keep them safely over the summer months for next year.
Please call us with any questions
