1. 1821- Born on Christmas Day in Oxford, Massachusetts

5. 1912-Died in the U.S.A.

Character Quality Traits/Anecdotes:

1. Shy- Clara went to boarding school because she was so shy. The only subject she did well in was writing.

2. Caring- She did not go outside to play with her friends. Instead, Clara took care of her brother with a fever for two years.

3. Trustworthy- Clara always kept her friend's secret. She never told anything.

4. Brave- She risked her life on the battlefield saving the wounded soldiers.

5. Adventurous- Clara always wanted to do everything the boys did. She never learned how to ride a horse like a proper lady; she rode like a boy. She even rode faster that her older brothers and sisters!

Accomplishments:

1. She changed the way mean girls acted at boarding school. Instead of judging people from the outside, they judged them from the inside.

2. She changed the way pets felt. Whenever a pet was injured, the owner took it to Clara Barton.

3. Clara saved the lives of people infected by smallpox.

4. Clara changed the way people felt about sending a loved one to war. She would heal the soldiers. She would save there lives.

5. Clara's biggest accomplishment was simply this: she founded the American Red Cross.
