Timeline: 1. 1902- Born in Siao, China, January 16. 2. 1908- Enrolled in Eltham College in Scotland. 3. 1921- Eric won 2nd in his 1st real race. Every race after that he won 1st. 4. 1923- He won the Olympic tryouts. 5. Friday, July 11 - He won the Olympic 400 meter in a new world record of 47.6 seconds. 6. 1925- He left to be a missionary to North China. 7. 1934- He married Florence McKenzie. 8. 1943- Sent to internment camp because of Word War 2. 9. 1945- Eric died in the internment camp. |

Heroic Quality Traits/Anecdote: 1. Brave- He gave up his famous life to go to the war scarred ares of China 2. Loyal- Eric didn't race on Sunday because God doesn't respect that. 3. Devoted- With all the fame, Eric was still a devoted Christian, who preached the gospel. 4. Kind- Every time he raced, he shook hands with the other racers, and withed them God's help. 5. Peaceful- With running, school, preaching, day to day activities, and the desire to go to China; he was still peaceful. |
Accomplishments: 1. He won the 400-meter of an Olympic new world record of 47.6! 2. Even though Scotland was mad, Eric wouldn't run on that fateful day. 3. With his famousness, he could hold meetings, and preach to millions. 4. He gave up his life of fame and fortune to go preach in China. 5.
