Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum

SCA offers a five-day Prekindergarten program for students who will be at least four years old by September 1 of the current school year. The classes meet in the morning and afternoon from 8:00-11:00 or 12:15-3:15.  Classes are held at our Early Childhood Education Center at 13840 North Tatum Blvd.

The Prekindergarten program is a fun, positive year in the life of a four or five year old child. The curriculum used is Saxon Early Learning. This program builds a strong foundation for early literacy skills with activities that build phonemic awareness and introduce children to the relationship between letters and sounds through the help of Max the Bear. The key Bible verse is Galatians 5:22, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” At the beginning of every day one child will be awarded The Caught Doing Good certificate for showing the fruit of the spirit during the previous school day. This helps to encourage everyone to use good behavior as we grow together as a PreK family.

Strong emphasis is also put on the parent-teacher relationship as we work together to make the year as exciting and challenging as possible for these children. The opportunity for parent participation will help the bonding between parent, child, and teacher. SCA’s family atmosphere is very evident in Prekindergarten.

There are special events that will need extra parent involvement. The various needs will be communicated throughout the year in the newsletter. We try to make it possible that every family can have some type of participation in the activities of the year. Through teamwork it will be a successful Prekindergarten adventure.
