Reading and Language Arts |
|
SCA has a strong reading and language program. The year begins with the A Beka Language Arts program. Phonics, handwriting, reading, spelling, poetry and the writing process are developed through this program.
Reading is reinforced using various readers, creative writing and publishing of students' stories and self-selected silent reading.

Math |
| The Saxon math curriculum is used along with MATH THEIR WAY techniques. These programs teach math concepts using a great variety of manipulatives and "real things". Students do hands-on activities for graphing, sorting, estimating, patterning and counting. In first grade students learn addition, subtraction, two place numbers, fractions, time and money, and geometry and measurement. The skills taught will be integrated throughout the year rather than in isolated units. |

Bible |
| Our Bible curriculum is published by Association of Christian Schools International. Familiar Bible stories are expanded into a theme of "God's Gifts to Me" as students study how God gives gifts of the world, families, friends, leaders, salvation, the church, and a way to live. A memory verse is learned each week/month. Once a week all first through sixth grades have chapel together. Chapel programs are varied and include such things as guest speakers, films, plays, singing groups, etc. |

Social Studies |
| In first grade students study safety, home, school, community and country. Emphasis is also placed on American History and some of the exciting people that make up history. |

Science |
| Students learn about kinds of living things. Weather and seasons, magnets, and earth’s land and water. |
