After-School Child Care

After-School Day Care program is a service provided for working parents who want a Christian environment for their child after school at Scottsdale Christian Academy. Our goal is to provide a safe and positive atmosphere for each child who attends. The Day Care service is offered to children from Pre-K PM to 6th grade who are presently enrolled at SCA.  The location for our after school care is our Early Childhood Education Center at 13840 N. Tatum Blvd.

REGISTRATION
Parents must fill out a required blue ADHS emergency form, which is available in the Day Care or Elementary Office in order for their child to be in the program. It is a state requirement that our Day Care facility has a form on every attending child. The health and emergency form required by the school nurse is not this form. If the ADHS form is not completed and turned in, parents may not utilize our Day Care program. Parents must also complete the Permission Slip for transporting children from the main campus to the south campus for Day Care.  Children attending Day Care must be current students of SCA.

CHILD CARE HOURS CHARGES
3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. $4.00/hr.

**For any portion of the 1st hour of Day Care, the hourly fee of $4.00 will be charged. Charges will then be prorated by 15 minute increments.

RESERVATIONS
Reservations may be made by calling either the Day Care or Elementary Office. Notify the Day Care office at 602-992-5100 ext. 1312 if your child/children will be attending Day Care, or in case of unexpected circumstances, notify the Elementary Office at ext. 1108.

SCA parents who volunteer their time helping with school functions may use Day Care Monday through Friday, 3:00 – 5:30 p.m., at no charge. However, they must receive approval from an administrator.

LATE & SERVICE CHARGES
A late charge of $5.00 for any portion of the first five (5) minutes and $1.00 per minute thereafter per child will be assessed after 5:30 PM. Charges (including late fees) for Day Care are subject to change. Advance notification will be made in the Elementary Journey. Children not picked up by 6:00 PM will be taken to either Mrs. Moy’s or Dr. Damore’s home.

All children must be signed-out in the afternoon at the Day Care building. If they are not, there will be a service charge. The child will be clocked out at 5:30 PM and charged accordingly.

ATTENDANCE
After school, a Day Care staff member will sign children in. Every child must be signed out by a parent or other designated adult. We accept verbal permission over the phone from parents. In cases where an older sibling is to sign out a child, a statement must be signed by a parent or guardian before a child will be released to another minor.
Each parent will be given an identification number (pin #) to punch in on the computer. This will verify the child’s attendance for billing.

SNACKS
Day Care will provide a nutritional afternoon snack, which includes at least two of the four basic food groups.

PLEASE ALERT STAFF OF ANY FOOD ALLERGIES OR SPECIAL DIET RESTRICTIONS!

DISCIPLINE
Because our extended care program is licensed by the State of Arizona, state guidelines are used for discipline. The four basic steps we use are as follows:

1. A warning to the child.
2. Time-out for three minutes.
3. Discussion with the Director.
4. A discussion with the teacher, parent and child. In extreme cases of misbehavior involving the safety of another child, parents will be asked to withdraw their child from Day Care.

MEDICATION
In order for the Day Care staff to be able to administer medication to a child, a consent form will need to be completed and signed. These forms are available in the nurse’s office and/or Day Care.

Preschool and Pre-kindergarten teachers, as well as extended care staff, are trained in first aid and CPR. After minor injuries are treated, a written report is filed and a copy made to inform parents of the injury and care administered. If medical attention is required, parents will be contacted immediately. In cases of emergency, paramedics will be called.

SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
It shall be the policy of SCA Day Care to attempt to meet the needs of children with special needs. Each situation will be examined on an individual basis to determine if children can be mainstreamed into the program.

INSURANCE
Liability insurance is in accordance with the Arizona Department of Health Services regulations.

TRANSPORTATION
SCA Day Care does not provide any transportation of children.

FIELD TRIPS
SCA Day Care does not leave the school grounds or participate in field trips.
